How to Calculate Your Nevada Take-Home Pay

  1. Start with your gross annual salary.
  2. Subtract the 2026 federal standard deduction ($16,100 single) to get taxable income, then apply the 2026 federal brackets (10%-37%).
  3. Subtract FICA: 6.2% Social Security (up to the $184,500 wage base) + 1.45% Medicare (all wages, +0.9% above $200,000).
  4. Nevada charges no state income tax — your paycheck stops there. What's left is your net take-home pay.

Example: $65,000/year gross salary, single filer, Nevada resident.

  1. Federal tax: $5,620
  2. FICA: $4,972.5
  3. Nevada state tax: No state income tax.
  4. Net annual pay: $65,000 - $10,592.5 = $54,407.5 (≈$4,533.96/month)

⚠️ This calculator models standard weekly overtime (over 40 hours/week) only. Nevada has additional daily-overtime rules (e.g. daily hours beyond a state-specific threshold at 1.5x/2x) that this calculator does not yet compute — treat overtime pay as an estimate.

Nevada Paycheck Calculator FAQ

Does Nevada have a state income tax?

No. Nevada is one of nine states with no personal income tax. Only federal income tax and FICA are withheld from your paycheck.

How much is take-home pay on $65,000 in Nevada?

On a $65,000 gross salary, a single filer in Nevada takes home roughly $54,407.5/year (about $4,533.96/month) after federal tax, FICA.

Why doesn't Nevada have a state income tax?

Nevada is constitutionally or statutorily barred from levying a personal income tax on wages. See the Methodology section below for the specific citation.

Does this estimate change if I'm married or have dependents?

This calculator uses single-filer figures only (v1 scope). Married filing jointly typically uses different federal brackets and a larger standard deduction — your actual take-home pay will differ. Dependents can also reduce federal withholding via the W-4. Check Nevada Department of Taxation's married-filing-jointly tables for a precise figure.

Methodology & Source

Nevada state tax figures sourced from Nevada Department of Taxation (https://tax.nv.gov/), citing Nev. Const. art. 10 — no personal income tax. Federal brackets, standard deductions (single/MFJ/HoH), and FICA constants sourced from the IRS (Revenue Procedure 2025-32; married-filing-jointly Additional Medicare threshold of $250,000 is a separate, unindexed statutory figure). Nevada's married-filing-jointly and head-of-household figures are not yet independently verified and currently fall back to single-filer brackets — see the caveat in the formula section above.

This is an estimate based on standard single-filer federal, FICA, and NV state calculations. Actual withholding may differ based on your W-4 elections, pre-tax deductions, and other factors.
